Psychotherapy of Depression in Children and Adolescents
The cases presented in this chapter may not differ significantly from adult depressives in terms of family history, basic psychodynamics, or unconscious beliefs. Modifications in the therapeutic approach are necessary, however, when the therapist considers the developmental tasks that are appropriate for the age of the patient.

FRANZ KAFKA: A Literary Prototype of the Depressive Character
Franz Kafka has been selected as a well-known paradigm of the depressive character, since in his writings as well as in his life he exemplifies the dilemma of the depressive and writes of this dilemma with such eloquence and imagination that his works transcend the impersonal and narrow textbook descriptions of depression. (72 pp.)
Severe and Mild Depression
This is an original view of the causes and treatment of depression. While not denying the contribution of constitutional and biochemical factors, the authors focus on the psychodynamics and psychotherapy of this widespread disorder. The book is devoted to psychotherapy of all states and includes separate chapters on therapy for postpartum depression, and involuntary melancholia. (1049 pgs)
