IPI offers a range of clinical training options for those who wish to practice from a psychodynamic perspective. Clinicians may focus on in-depth or short-term treatments with individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents in varied treatment settings. Our programs provide didactic instruction on classical and contemporary psychoanalytic theory and technique combined with clinical applications to facilitate the development of clinical skills and dynamic understanding.

Object Relations Theory and Practice
The Two-Year Certificate Program in Object Relations Theory and Practice located in the Washington D.C area, provides a concentrated immersion in object relations theory and therapy.
The Infant observation program focuses on early child development, primary relationships, primitive anxieties, defenses and implications for child and adult psychotherapy later in life.
A post-graduate program in contemporary psychodynamic theory and therapeutic technique designed to develop clinical competency in working with patients from an object relations/intersubjective approach.
Psychoanalytic Training (IIPT)
Four-year psychoanalytic training program, online and in-person including seminars, case presentations, group affective learning.
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Consultation Program
Consultation and supervision skills: online course includes readings, discussions, case examples, individual and group supervision settings, CE credits, and integration of the learning using the group affective model.
Combined Child Training
A two-year program in either child psychotherapy or child psychoanalysis, this program combines weekly videoconferencing seminars with twice yearly in-person conferences, featuring presenters invested in child work.
Psychoanalytic Couple Therapy
This program is geared for 2-year Object Relations Theory and Practice program graduates (or the equivalent) who desire advanced training in couple treatment.

Many of IPI's training opportunities are available to participants who can't enroll in one of the full training programs. Students are welcome to come to one, or several, of the events at a level of participation that suits you.
