Excerpt:

The central conscious issue during youth is the tension between self and society. In adolescence young men and women tend to accept their society’s definition of them as rebels, truants, conformists, athletes or achievers. The awareness of conflict and the resources and demands of the existing society increases. The adolescent is struggling to define who he is, the youth begins to sense who he is and recognizes the possibility of conflict between his emerging selfhood and his social order. (82 pp.)
