“Psychiatric social work” is social work within a psychiatric hospital, department, or clinic. It embraces a range of services that stem from the idea that the patient, like all other persons, is affected by (and in turn affects) current and potent transactions between himself, the “significant others,” and significant circumstances in his social environment.
