This chapter deals with the genesis of psychotic behavior in which intake of a pharmacologic compound plays a significant role. As used here, psychosis refers to an experience of self and external world, which, for a significantly prolonged period, is at marked variance with generally accepted notions of reality and which is not under individual control.
