The Theory of Psychoanalytic Technique

The basic aim of psychoanalytic therapy is to undo the unresolved conflicts that are the cause of the neurosis. During therapy we attempt to study these phenomena from five basic theoretical points of view: topographical, dynamic, economic, genetic, and structural. Even the best technique requires a goodly amount of time to overcome the formidable tyranny of the neurotic patient’s past and his compulsion to repeat. (68 pp)
