Our biological rhythms make each of us a microcosm of the geophysical world. This chapter will review the evidence that links affective illness to disturbances in the circadian system. It will also describe a circadian theory of depression and mania and possible circadian mechanisms of drugs and procedures that are used in their treatment. (74 pp.)
